Over the past eight years, under the leadership of Governor DeSantis and with the support of the legislature, the Department has proudly offered grant funding to our communities. These grants improved water quality, secured sustainable water supplies, enhanced recreational spaces, restored our beaches, and made our state more resilient to storms. The land and recreation grant programs support partnerships aimed at protecting, enhancing, and sustaining Florida’s natural and cultural resources. These grant programs help expand access to high-quality outdoor recreation opportunities, improve public lands and facilities, and enrich the quality of life for Florida’s residents and visitors by encouraging stewardship, conservation and community engagement.
Grants for resilience and coastal protection address flood risk to critical infrastructure, as well as cultural, historic and environmental resources. Grants are also available to restore vital coastal ecosystems that act as natural protective barriers for Florida’s communities, or that improve public access to our shorelines. These adaptation measures ensure sustainability of our local communities and the enjoyment of these vital coastal resources for generations to come.
