Resilience and Coastal Protection Grants
Supporting Statewide Resilience
Grants for resilience and coastal protection help protect not only our communities, but our way of life. By funding projects that protect our communities’ critical assets and re-nourish our beaches, Florida is protecting our coastal resources for generations to come.
Selected applicants will be notified directly by the applicable program area if selected for funding.
Grant Programs
Beach Management Funding Assistance Program
Funding for local governments to plan and implement beach and dune nourishment projects for sandy shorelines on the open coast that are designated critically eroded, publicly accessible, and consistent with the state’s Strategic Beach Management Plan. Inlet management/inlet sand bypass projects are also eligible for program funds if they implement an approved strategy in an adopted inlet management plan.
RESILIENT FLORIDA - PLANNING GRANTS
This grant supports counties and municipalities with resilience planning efforts, including further assessment of vulnerabilities of critical assets, feasibility studies and the cost of permitting for nature-based solutions, and other activities eligible under section 380.093, Florida Statutes. Water management districts are also eligible to receive funding through this program to assist the Florida Flood Hub for Applied Science and Innovation in addressing gaps in available data.
RESILIENT FLORIDA - IMPLEMENTATION GRANTS
This grant is available to counties, municipalities and certain special districts for infrastructure projects that address risks identified in a local government vulnerability assessment. Funding is also available for water management districts, drainage districts, erosion control districts, flood control districts and regional water supply authorities to mitigate the risks of flooding and storm surge to water supplies or water resources.
Coastal Partnership Initiative Grants
Funding to protect and effectively manage Florida’s coastal resources at the local level. Florida's 35 coastal counties and all municipalities within the county boundaries are eligible if they are required to include a coastal element in their comprehensive local plan. Florida public colleges and universities, regional planning councils, national estuary programs and nonprofit groups also may apply with an eligible local government partner. CPI grants provide support for innovative, local, coastal management projects in four program areas: resilient communities, public access, working waterfronts and coastal stewardship.
